Results from Optical Mapping Facility

The optical mapping facility for small hearts at the CVRTI includes a 256 Hamamatsu photo diode array and a modified Langendorff perfusion system.

Action Potentials Recorded from Mouse LV

Action Potentials Recorded from Mouse
	LV

Action potentials recorded from the LV of a Langendorff perfused mouse heart under normal conditions (red) and while perfused with high extracellular potassium ion concentration (blue). The normalized action potentials show the conduction delay and shortening of the action potential associated with high K+.

Isochronal Maps

Isochronal Maps from Mouse
	LV

A (Normal):Isochronal maps showing the normal sequence of activation for an LV paced beat in a mouse heart. Images are generated from action potentials recorded from an 8 by 8 uniform grid of photo diodes with 0.5 mm spatial sampling.

B (High Extracellular Potassium Ion Concentration):Isochronal maps showing the slowing of conduction in the same mouse heart after perfusion of high extracellular K+.
