Background

Dr. Stinstra obtained his PhD from Twente University, Enschede, the Netherlands. Here he was involved in measuring fetal magnetocardiograms (recordings of the magnetic signal generated by fetal heart). During the period in Twente, he worked on modeling bioelectromagnetic fields, the signal processing of the fetal magnetocardiograms and looked into the applicability of fetal magnetocardiography as a medical tool. Currently. he is involved in creating models of the heart range from models at tissue level to full heart/torso models. His main interest is in incorporating physiological data, like tissue structure into a more physical model of the heart and to answer the question how to deal with parameters at different scales and how to incorporate this into one single model.

Scientific Interests

The bioelectromagnetic research field is becoming more and more multidisciplinary. In order to progress and tackle these kind complex problems input is needed from a still increasing number of fields. And one of the things I like to obtain is a good overview on all the different aspects in order to be able to really pinpoint the weaknesses of the current models and methods. Luckily my interest is not only limited to physics, I am also intrigued by the beauty of mathematics and wonderful world of the functioning of the human being.
