The CVRTI has a large group of investigators, postdoctoral fellows, students and staff dedicated to a comprehensive understanding of the electrical activity of normal and diseased hearts.
Experimental research includes electrical and optical imaging of activation and recovery on the epicaridal and endocardial surfaces, within the myocardial walls as well as, mapping of the potential distribution and currents, in the torso volume and on the body surface. Experimental work is being done in normal hearts, models of ischemia, myocadial infarction, long QT, and genetic models of diabetes.
Computational and theoretical work is currently being done in the area of inverse reconstructions of the heart surface potentials from body surface measurements, modeling of electro-mechanics, modeling cardiac arrhythmias, and modeling of propagation during ischemia.
